With the increase our comprehensive national power, China’s diplomaticactivities have become increasingly frequent. Close contacts among countries andgovernments have made it more and more important to translate governmentreception documents, which is an integral part of our foreign communication. TheVisiting Schedule of the Delegation of Supervision Department of Uganda (brieflyVisiting Schedule) is one of them. It is a reception brochure formulated by ForeignAffairs’ Office of the People’s Government of Jilin Province, which include thespecific itinerary, accompany members, meetings, brief introduction of JilinProvince, Jilin City and Changbai Mountain. The Visiting Schedule also reflects theaccuracy of the work of foreign affairs.In the process of the translation, the author has been faced with many problemsas translating of position, translating of poetry and translating of personification etc.The author is to study possible approaches to resolve the problems. In addition toother translation skills, the author mainly use translating in the reverse order,contextual amplification and omission, division and restructuring to analyze thetranslated version, aiming at getting a fairy good version.The theoretical support of this practice report:①Translation Criterion.Translation Criterion is the norm in translation and also the criteria to judge thequality of the translation. The primary task of foreign affairs translation is accurate,understandable, then taking into consideration of expressiveness and elegance aswell. We should strive hard to make the translation coherent, clear as well as in linewith expressions usually used in both China and foreign countries.②The theory ofDynamic Equivalence. Based on the theory of the famous American translatorEugene· A·Nida’s “Dynamic equivalence”, this report is to study translating of theVisiting Schedule from the principles of the theory.During the composition of the translation practice report, the author also usesthe methods like comparison among various versions, comments among classmates to make the translation version smoothly and understandable, at the same time toprovide a mode for the author and enhance the author’s own skills.
