Research In Sculpture And Shui Lu Mural Painting Of Yunlin Temple In Shanxi Province

China has a long history of ancient civilization. In the long historical process, China has created a particularly rich cultural heritage. Buddhist culture, an important part of Chinese culture, still has very strong vitality up to now. That’s because Chinese people pay attention to protect their cultural property and historical wealth. Protecting, managing and making good use of cultural heritage are extremely important for spreading and inheriting the national culture, maintaining the national blood, enhancing national unity, stimulating the national spirit, ensuring a harmonious and healthy development, promoting scientific progress and advancing the progress of human civilization.Through on-the-spot investigation of Yunlin Temple in Yanggao county, Shanxi Province and research for precious relics of the present Precious Hall of Great Hero, this thesis infers that Yunlin Temple is built during the Ming Dynasty; the author also personally surveys the size of the sculpture of Buddha, Arhat and law enforcement person in the large hall and gives detailed description and depiction. To each character of sculptures, the author makes elaborate analysis to the relationships between the figures in the temple by consulting reference materials, appeals for full understanding and by contrast sums up the style and characteristics of the plastic arts of the Ming Dynasty. Furthermore, she focuses on the huge murals of divinities in Yunlin temple and analyzes carefully their figures, characteristics, usage and so on by referring to the ceremonial rituals. At last, the thesis gets a conclusion that murals of divinities in Precious Hall of Great Hero of Yunlin Temple are northern murals of divinities corresponding with The ceremony of the Heaven and Earth, Day and Night, Water and Land Feast.The thesis holds personal views to styles of design and shape characteristics of present relics in Yunlin Temple and draws conclusions through consulting, contrasting and quoting historical materials. Based on detailed study and research for Yunlin Temple, the author hopes to draw personally elevation graph and planar graph of Precious Hall of Great Hero, as well as hand-drawn line drawing plastic graph. The great purpose and significance lie in providing accurate and detailed text and picture reference for more research scholars in future.
