Nowadays, as the globalization become the trend of the world, interpretation,which serves as a tool to help people to overcome language barriers, become thebridge connecting different cultures and languages. With the growing demand ofinterpretation in the society, interpretation has received attention from scholars indifferent research field and the role of interpreter is more and more valued byresearchers.The relevance theory proposed by Serber and Wilson is mainly concerned withcommunication, and has provided a new cognitive perspective for the study ofTranslation, especially written translation. As a form of Translation, interpretationshares many similarities with written translation. Therefore, the relevance theory canas well be applied in the study of interpretation.In the perspective of relevance theory, the thesis has made a tentative study oninterpretation and the subjectivity of interpreter. Through application of relevancetheory, the interpreter can put his or her subjectivity into full play, in order toimprove the quality of interpretation and make the communication of success.
