The Limit And The Innovation Of The Archetypal Criticism Practices

This dissertation，based on the current researches, study on thetheory of Archetypal criticism and related academic achievements,which are paid close attention by the academic field. Themethodology of this study is to take practical cases, they apply thearchetypal approach, for example and adapt trial criticism. Morespecifically, there are three directions: first, to recognize themisunderstanding and “bottleneck” encountered by archetypalapproaches. second, to find out the necessity and feasibility of the trialcriticism; third, to evaluate the potential social influence generated bytrial criticism, which will provide the author’s own mind and thoughtsource for constructing the creativity of the archetypal criticism. Theaim and chosen approaches of this study as follows:1.in theperspective of methodology, to re-estimate archetypal criticism;2.according to the logic of archetypal criticism, finding “active text”which is covered by critical discourse and the literary facts that thetext is based on. In the context of self-reflexive theory, consideringthe limit of the archetypal criticism practices and other problemswhich refer to the creativity, that is, although the archetypal criticismcan reach, nevertheless the evaluation itself has its own crisis.Holding one certain culture archetype and adoring gods ortranscendental individual may lead the back of nationalism andfundamentalism. So, in that case, when we carry on the archetypalcriticism, we should evaluate the influence as well as consider thewhole cultural background.
