Exegetical Study Of The Yin Zhizhang Annotation About Guanzi

Yin Zhizhang was the first people as we know history, gave his annotation to Guanzi.Although many scholars denounced his annotation, and gave a large number of corrections, but they ignored its history status and value. Its succinct exegesis style, various exegesis contents not only provide people who research Guanzi precious resources, but also contribute to the knowledge of the whole exegesis style of Tang Dynasty. At present, the academic circles focus on contents of Guanzi. Since Qing Dynasty, scholars have paid more attention to its new explanation, but ignored the achievement of the annotation of Yin Zhizhang.This thesis takes the annotation of Yin Zhizhang as the object of the study, analyses it thoroughly and systematically. On one hand, pay attention to its exegesis style and trait, on the other hand, reveal its inadequacy.The thesis is composed of seven parts.The first part prolegomenon briefly introduces the value of researching, the materials and methods used in this thesis.The second part summarizes the exegesis contents of Yin’s annotation, including the meaning of the words, sentences, passages, grammar rhetoric, things’names and the terms model.The third part introduces the exegesis ways by Yin Zhizhang, including seeking meanings from sounds, character shape and linguistic environment.The fourth part expounds its exegesis terms from three aspects of meaning, phonetic notation and collating.The fifth part focuses on its various exegesis traits.The sixth part analyses and distinguishes the demerits of Yin’s annotation. His annotation into the following categories:misunderstanding the meaning of words, sentences and phrases, linguistic environmen(?) phonetics loan characters and so on.The seventh part explains five words which have different meanings in different linguistic environment. They are yun(“云”)、fang(“方”)、luo(“倮”)、bo(“搏、博”)、kuo(“韕”).
