Children-oriented is the notion of view to take children as the center, other people or things to serve the interests of children. It includes the children’s epistemology, children’s education, children’s literature view. Take the new literature of May Fourth in1917-1927as the research foundation, to discuss the theory construction and the practice of children-oriented notion in its theoretical texts and literary texts.Besides the preface and conclusion, this thesis is divided into four chapters.Chapter One introduces May Fourth children--oriented notion establish in the historical context, respectively, proceed from the traditional Chinese, modern western, modern Chinese history of childhood theory, to search for the breach and theoretical sources of May Fourth children-oriented notion to build.Chapter Two is based on the new literary theory text, to explore the children-oriented notion of the leader Zhou Shuren and Zhou Zuoren and other scholars. Excavating the different tendencies show in their specific theory as the dominant factor of children-oriented notion.Chapter Three dwells on the specific representations of the children-oriented notion in the new literature of May Fourth texts which are reflected three aspects:firstly, by criticizing the traditional notion which torments the child, the authors prove the necessity to liberate the child through establishing the children-oriented notion; secondly, by means of building the image of an ideal child with modern characteristics, they point out the direction of the growth of child as well as the goal of the cultivation; thirdly, through shifting the narrative perspective from the adult to the child, they call for a complete realization of children-oriented notion based on the recognition and under standing of the child.Chapter Four summarizes the historical limitation of children-oriented notion. I attempt to ascribe it to the lack of political, cultural and public support, the one-sided idealized recognition of children-oriented notion as well as the authors’utilitarianism. This thesis begins with expounding of the children-oriented notion, and then analyzes the notion reflected in new literature and finally returns to the children-oriented notion.
