The Study And Application Of Collage Art In Children’s Illustrations

Nowadays, children’s books become more and more colorful with the increasingimportant of children education. As the result, the illustrations which are inserted in thebooks is also welcomed and thrived in the book market. As for the parents, the illustrationsfor the children has great effect on children’s growth for its bright colors and vivid pictures.At present, it turns a form of drawing completely rather than attaching the pictures to thestory. In other words, it possesses the potential value which can educate children enoughwithout words.There are numbers of children’s book with illustrations in the market. But, thepictures in these books are all traditional and digital drawing so that they look like easilyand simple. Moreover, people are sick of the digital pictures because they can seeeverything that made by the digital skills. Therefore, collage as a new form of children’sillustration attracts many people including illustrators and children.This thesis studies many different collages at home and abroad, a conclusion can bereached that collage which is used in the children’s book for it meets children’s need andtaste. Especially, collages are made up with colorful materials like cloth, shell, feather andso on, it can show a gorgeous, iconic and natural scene. Without doubt, it can catchchildren’s eye closely. This paper tries to combine the collage and the traditional drawingto innovate the children’s illustrations. At same time, this new illustration can contain theChinese elements to suit many children, even foreign kids.
