Dynamic performance of illustrations is a new form in today s e-books,especially in children s e-books. Compared to traditional staticillustration, dynamic manifestation mode is more accurate and vivid andvisual effects added is conducive to increasing children s reading interestand meeting their reading demands. Among digitally published products, therehave been many studies of dynamic performance examples. Therefore, based onworks published, this paper conducts a theoretical research on dynamicperformance of illustrations in children s e-books by using principles ofanimation and illustration disciplines and combining relevant theories ofchild psychology, child behavioristics and communication studies.First of all, the paper will give a general introduction to thedevelopmental background of the dynamic performance of illustrations inchildren s e-books from the perspectives of the change of market demand,technological means and information transfer mode. Dynamic performance ofillustrations will have more market advantages for it is complied with thetime and the demands of children readers.Secondly, the paper discusses the dynamic performance features ofillustrations in children s e-books. By analyzing successful children se-books published, the paper summarizes the characteristics of dynamicperformance of illustrations. In dynamic illustrations, roles perform in amoving way, whose facial expressions and physical languages can informchildren of more information. Dynamic elements added into the scene createa clearer spatial relationship and complete emotional environment andprovides better performance space for the the roles. The dynamic performanceof the characters coupled with illustrations offers more surprises for children readers and arouses their reading interest.Thirdly, the paper analyzes the communicating effect of the dynamicperformance of illustration in children s e-books. In children s e-books,dynamic performance of illustration is aimed at passing the theme of story,which helps children to grasp ideas more accurately. Its half-moving feature has a moderate visual effect on children, which catches children sattention while causing no visual tension.At last, the author creates dynamic illustrations for children s e-bookby the means of dynamic performance, which is taken as a practical evidencefor the paper. Creative practice is carried out for children s needs anddesign and its focus is to effectively achieve the association of activityand inertia of illustration s dynamic performance.
