The Comparision Between The Ninth Edition And The Tenth Edition Of Xinhua Dictionary

Xinhua dictionary is the first dictionary which is arranged according to the Chinese phonetic alphabet, explained and illustrated with modern Chinese, after the founding of the People’s Republic of China. Xinhua dictionary is now in its eleventh edition. Many scholars have made their own research about the revisions from the ninth to tenth edition, and have carried out their own evaluation.In this paper, we have made an effort to compare the ninth edition with the tenth edition, based on standardization, scientificalness, simplicity and practicability. We have differentiated and analyzed the gain and loss of the revision, tried our best to carry out proper evaluation.This paper is divided into six parts:the first chapter summarizes the research already made about Xinhu dictionary, emphatically about revision to the ninth edition, since the publication of the tenth edition. The second chapter is about the revision to the characters. The third chapter is about the revision to phonetic notations. The fourth chapter is about the revision to the interpretations. The fifth chapter is about the revision to the examples. The sixth chapter is about the revision to the disyllabic words.
