This thesis analyzed the conversion of Painter Zhou Sicong’s art style and creation themes mainly through his art experience, historical background and state of Chinese painting development. Jointly combining the artist’s love to life&labouring people with his pursuit of creation, he formed the unique art style and initiated Chinese painting’s direction of advance, which greatly enlightened the future young painters as well as Chinese art world.Zhou Sicong is not only successor to Xu Beihong, Jiang Zhao and Realism Arts, but also made his own contributions to Arts. During his life-long career, he experienced different stages:transition from realism style in the early stage to coexistence of various art methods to display actualism, to the later expressive painting style reflecting personal emotions, in which there were wide range of themes: characters, landscape, birds and flowers. Looking for soul fusion from commonness, he showed his noble virtues via lofty emotion concept and true feelings expressed in plain daily life, factual social and important historical events, and natural things in different poses."People and Premier" was the representative work in his realism stage, and "Miner’s "evoked strong repercussions in Chinese painting world with humanism, compassion, over-powering form of expression and strong sense of historical responsibility. A serialized work of Yi Nationality Girls embodied rich humanistic care while series of lotus and landscape expressed desire to life.At the era of constant transformation of Chinese brush and figure drawing, we still need artists like Zhou Sicong to explore direction of painting. We can be enlightened by him in many aspects including traditional&modern styles, realism&abstraction, and how to extend future development space on Chinese brush and figure drawing.
