In recent years, with the heated wave of singing red songs (revolutionary songs),red tourism rises and being to prevail in the country. It becomes the focus of overseasvisitors gradually, with the founding of the90thanniversary of Communist Party ofChina, accelerating the heat of red tourism further. However, the quality of current redtourism translation materials is far away from readers’ satisfaction. It exists plenty ofproblems and varied mess, which leads to visitor’s misunderstanding and wrongperception due to uncompleted information, even wrong translation. Then it willinfluence quality and image of tourism spots, reducing the attraction to tourists.Therefore, it is very urgent that study red tourism translation deeply to arouse theattraction of translation and propose solutions.However, any translation theory must update with the changes of time andlanguage in the social practice. The true purpose of translation is to meet socialdemand, and thus to promote communication. Intercultural communication translationis just the necessary tendency that is able to meet the needs. The red tourism withChinese characteristics is a typical intercultural communication activity, which is theproduct of particular time. Therefore, the awareness of intercultural communicationplays an important role in red tourism translation. Red tourism is a form of tourismwith certain Chinese characteristics, as the new issue in tourism, which refers to thiskind of tourism activity that visit red tourism spots (revolutionary tourism spots),accept the education of patriotism and revolutionary tradition education. It reflects thedistinctive times, and involves ideological and political field.This thesis tries to analyze the translation of Chinese red tourism commentaryfrom the perspective of intercultural communication, and explain their relationship.According to the specificity and five principles of red tourism translation, meanwhile,author chooses some representative tourism translations text resources and cases of field trips, analyzing factors that may influence translation and proposing specifictranslation strategies. At last, problems in contemporary red tourism translation areproposed. Author comes up with following solutions: first, understanding the culturebackground of original language and target language to the full, cultivatingintercultural communication awareness and considering readers’ reception from thepurpose of translation; second, cultivating professional elites and completing thesystem of translation quality; third, setting up corpus of red tourism translation andofficial English web sites. So that it can improve the quality of translation andpublicize Chinese culture to attract more foreign tourists, making Westernersunderstand Chinese red culture (the history of Chinese revolution) correctly, thus toenhance the international status of Chinese culture; promote communication andcooperation with other countries.
