"Rickshaw Boy" is a famous novel by the Chinese writer Lao She.It’s a realistic novel with deep emotional elements and a compact structure."Rickshaw Boy" was first published in China in the "Universe Wind" magazine.Later on it had several publications:the one published by Qi Zhi Publishing House in1941,another copy published by Shanghai Cultural Life Publishing House in1947,etc."Rickshaw Boy" was translated into English,German,Japanese,Russian,Armenian and many other languages.In1945the English version of "Rickshaw Boy" was published in America, which made Lao She a world famous contemporary Chinese writer.In1963Armenian State Publishing House published the Armenian version of "Rickshaw Boy"In the following thesis the author carries out a comparative study of "Rickshaw Boy’"s original and its’Armenian version and tries to expose translation techniques, methods and equivalence degree by means of adequate examples.Meanwhile, the author tries to probe into the propaganda of "Rickshaw Boy" in Armenia on the theoretical basis of translation and literary propaganda. The first chapter of the thesis expounds and analyzes literary propaganda, translation and their correlation. In the second chapter the author briefly introduces "Rickshaw Boy" and carries out a comparative study of "Rickshaw Boy"’s Armenian version and its’original. In the third chapter the author tries to probe into and analyze the propaganda of "Rickshaw Boy" on the basis of the above-mentioned study. Each literary work reflects a nation’s culture,i.e. its’history, customs and traditions, emotional life, philosophy etc.Because of this we can regard literary propaganda as a kind of a cultural propaganda. The main function of foreign literature propaganda is introducing another nation’s culture to a foreign reader and making him acquainted with that unknown culture, and the success of foreign literature propaganda depends greatly on the translation quality.A translator can translate the original correctly only if he knows the related nation’s language and behaviour, comprehends their cultural reference system and is familiar with their way of thinking. The following thesis carries out a detailed study of the propaganda of "Rickshaw Boy" in Armenia probing into the propaganda ways.environment and effects.
