Based on the Chinese Semantic-PictoPhonetic characters Lexicon compiled by Nihaishu published in1971, and Pedigree of the PictoPhonetic Characters compiled by Zhonghuanxie, The author of the thesis tries to make an overall statistical analysis of the PictoPhonetic element and the phonetic element of PictoPhonetic characters in The List of Frequently-used Words in Modern Chinese, to summarize the Characteristcs of the pictophonetic charaeters and to explore a scientific and effective method of Chinese charaeter teaching to oversea students.This paper overally and carefully studys the phonetic components of Chinesese pictophonetic charaters. Which primarily analyzes and diseusses it from its phonetic degree, semantic degree and the limitation of its phonetic and semantic function,and the reason of the weakening, the complexity of semantic degree and the reason of complexity.lt will be primarily diseussed in six chapters:The first chapter gives a brief introduction to the status quo and the problems of pictophonetic characters in the process of teaching Chinese characters to oversea students, as well as the purpose and the significance of the thesis.The second chapter mainly discusses the definition and the origin of the phonetic element of pictophonetic characters. The third chapter and lists the way to study and analysis the phonetic element.Then the author divides them to severa kinds, analyzes the quantity,the phonetic degree and the limitation of its phonetic function,and the reason of it.Chapter Four primarily discusses the semantic contaction between the phonetic element and pictophonetic characters,and tried to explore the deep reason of this contaction.The semantic function of phonetic element also has its limitation.Chapter Five mainly discusses the problems and bias in the Chinese pictophonetic characters study,then gives some recommendation and raises five pieces of principle.The last chapter is a summary to the words above.
