As the continuous improvement of the human material standard of living,the desire of the substances also continued expanding:on the one hand, in all areas of life human beings have been inseparable from the high-tech products; the other hand, they are alienated gradually by the material. In modern times, it seems that the real cultural achievements are increasingly eroded by full swing commercialism and mass democracy. Culture is the core part of a nation, it is an important source of national vitality, creativity and cohesion, it should develop incrementally in a relaxed and harmonious environment, to accept the new culture as the heritage of traditional factors to prevent to move towards the two extremes:total negation of the traditional or blindly immersed in the past.So,in such an era which either can be called the best of times,or can be called the worst of times, As the "elite" among the medium, the documentary should be in what kind of attitude to face these problems, and thus inspired to guide the public, which has become an imminent problem television media."Elite" in the "elite"------anthropological documentary takes with the cultural responsibilites here, it is their own, the nation or the region’s historical and cultural sensibility and a clear understanding of rational and scientific heritage, and to a large extent, it palys a role of criticism and reflection in the dregs of the local culture and foreign culture. Therefore, this project will analyze the cultural self-examination in the anthropological documentary systematically by combining several communication theories such as cultural studies, postmodernism, consumerism, etc.,which reveals in four aspects including studying the historical background,elaborating on the concrete manifestation of the cultural self-examination,dissecting a number of problems which exists in the cultural self-examination,and shows the value to society, in order to alert more people to face and consider one question:economic globalization is expanding rapidly,people are getting gradually rich in material life, however, among the natural, social, interpersonal, spiritual and civilization the conflict has become increasingly apparent, then, how do we deal with this challenge? In the process of thinking, the cultural significance in anthropological documentary is undoubtedly significant.The author will analyze the cultural self-examination in the anthropological documentary from three parts and the train of thought in full text are as follows:First, anthropological documentary and culture.
