In recent years, there are lots of studies on Liucie and his famous book The Literary Mind and Dragon Carving, and the results are abundant. Previous scholars have made detailed researches from every angle. However, it’s found that most scholars have made meticulous analysis mainly from literary perspective, comparatively less from historical perspective, let alone from the perspective of literary together with history. Therefore, the writer thinks it’s necessary to do an all-around study about it and probe further into some related issues. This paper consists of three parts, which have five chapters in all. They are introduction, main body and conclusion, and the main body includes three chapters. In the introduction, the writer has mainly discussed the thesis’s theoretical importance and the related current research situation and study value of academic research. Moreover, this part has also generalized the paper’s research ideas and methods, and pointed out the innovation and shortages of this paper in the end.The second chapter is about the theoretical study of The Literary Mind and Dragon Carving. The writer has mainly investigated the written ages of this book and the four words’connotations——"wen"、"xin"、"diao"and "long". Though reviewing the research achievements made by some modern times scholars and making further study and analysis on our own, we have finally confirmed that this book’s written ages was in the first year or second year in QiHeLi ZTE. Then the writer analyzed the specific meanings of "wen"、"xin"、"diao"and "long" one by one, and respectively made statistics on the number of occurrences of these four words in the book so as to do depth study on their connotations. Last, we have also made the summary explanation on the title. The third chapter is about Liucie’s lifetime and his family. We have focused on investigating some major controversial issues, including Liucie’s family ground, his death years and his identity. Firstly, based on the research results made by some scholars, we have defined the birth year and death year of Liucie. It’s believed that he was born between the first year and the second year in SongMingdi Taishi period, which was in about AD465and AD466. And he died in the fourth year in ZhongDatong period that was in AD532. Next, we have made a brief presentation on the life of Liucie by chart. Then, we have made a more detailed study on Liucie’s identity. We have taken the cases of Liucie’s family for generation official and marriages of the youth among the families as the most significant illustrations, and the case of the knowledge of his official position as corroborative evidence. Last, with the above mentioned, we can safely conclude that Liucie was born in a low-level gentry family. The fourth chapter is about Liucie’s family development of evolution and the southern aristocracy. Based on the first two chapters, and by inspecting the situations of Liucie’s family members who has been officials before, we could find that Liucie’s family development has shown some regularities——from military to literary. The first three generations were engaged in the military work on the whole and flourished because of military achievements. The fourth generation began to transform and tended to work on literary, and till the fifth and sixth generation which was the period of Liucie, the transformation has been totally finished——from military to literary. And then, the writer has expanded the research field from Liucie’s family to the whole southern aristocracy. What’s more, we have got some conclusions by investigating and making statistics on some major southern aristocracy’s family. We have also made further study on each southern dynastic development. It’s found that Song Dynasty started from military and Liang Dynasty began from literary, the development of Song、Qi、Liang and Chen also took on the same transformation——from military to literary. In the end, the writer has given the explanations why this transformation regularity has turned up.In the conclusion chapter, the writer has summarized this paper’s point of views and promoted the theoretical level of some related issues. For example, the writer has explained the reason why the transformation rule turned up that aristocracy always showed the regularities——from military to literary in the end.
