As the highly talented of our nation, graduate students is an important force to rejuvenate. At the same time we concerned about their academic achievements, we should also give deep concern about their mental health. Their physical and mental health has a directl impact on the quality of highly talented of our nation and it must not be ignored.From the experience of psychological counseling and treatment, the Chinese people, especially Chinese students had a greater possibility to have perfectionism tendency than foreigners, and lots of people had been troubled by perfectionism. Under the oppression of their own strongly high standard, mental health and academic achievement will be affected, which will also impact an individual’s general self-efficacy, and the change of general self-efficacy in turn influences actions ability and goal achievement.This study make the mental health of graduate students as a starting point, using Chinese Frost Multidimensional Perfectionism Scale, General Self-efficacy Scale and SCL-90, conducted a questionnaire survey on graduate students of four universities in Hunan Province to study their level of their mental health, perfectionism and self-efficacy and explore the effection perfectionism and general self-efficacy on mental health. The conclusion are as follows:1. The positive detection rate of mental health of graduate students is35.3%. The factors of a higher incidence to phychological problems are compulsion, interpersonal sensitivity and depression. The mental health of the third-year graduate student was significantly lower than the first and second year graduate students. There are no significant differences on other demographic variables.2. Generally speaking, graduate students has a high level of perfectionism. The score of organization is the highest, which followed by personal standards,doubts about actions and parental expectations. The score of concern over mistakes is the lowest. Perfectionism of graduate students have significant differences on gender, profession, grade, begotten or not, urban and rural.3. General self-efficacy of graduate students is above the middle level,and there is no significant difference on demographic variables.4. The dimentions of perfectionism, concern over mistakes, organization, doubts about actions, have significant correlation with mental health of graduate students. Organization has positive correlation with the level of mental health, while the other dimention have negative correlation with that. Thers is a positive correlation between general self-efficacy and mental health of graduate students.5. Perfectionism and general self-efficacy of graduate students can predict their level of mental health. General self-efficacy partially mediated.
