The Phonological Study Of Shiting Dialect In Liling County Of Hunan Province

With its special location of Liling,its dialect is very complex.But there has been few documents on the study of the dialects in Liling.Besides Yanlan’ The Dialect Study of Banshan and the record in local county annals,most of the study was mentioned in the general review of Hunan dialect and local works.Considering that and on the basis of investing in the locality,we mainly describe the phonetic system of Shiting dialect——the county town of Linxiang, and divides Liling dialects into several districts.In addition,a comparison will be made among Liling dialects,trying to make a conclusion to the dialect system in Liling that fills the study gap of Liling dialects.The full thesis falls intofive parts altogether.The Introduction Part shows us the geography,the history,thepopulation,the condition of languag uses of Liling briefly.It also introduces the present studies on the Liling dialects and the emphasis and the main purpose of our research.The first chapter describes an account of the phonetic system,the features of initial consonant,compound vowel and tone of Liling dialects.The second chapter descibers and analyses literary reading and colloquial reading and the layers of literary reading.The third chapter cleans up the syllabary of Shiting dialect. The fourth chapter uses the comparative method to the contours of the inside difference of Liling dialects.According to it,Liling dialects is divided into several districts.In addition,we sum up the phonetic features of these districts.And by unveiling the close or alienate relationship between Shiting dialect,Gan Dialect and Xiang Dialect to conclude the category of Shiting dialect.
