| The study of Chinese Directional Complement is not only a hot issue in theresearch field of Chinese grammar, but also a key point in teaching Chinese as a SecondLanguage. In teaching Indonesian students, the students find Chinese DirectionalComplement as a difficult point to learn. To make the learning process easier, thisthesis makes a comparison between Chinese Directional Complement and itscounterpart in Indonesian language. Afterwards, a questionnaire is made to gain insightinto the usage of Chinese Directional Complement among Indonesian students. Fromthe questionnaire responses, errors in the usage of Chinese Directional Complementamong Indonesian students are analyzed and categorized. The result is then viewedfrom the teacher and student perspectives to yield directions and methods to make thelearning process of Chinese Directional Complement easier for Indonesian students.This thesis consists of five chapters.In chapter one, a general introduction to the subject is presented along with thescope and the significance of the study. Afterwards, the result of a literature researchthat is made to review past findings to draw a direction and basis for this thesis work, isgiven. Finally, the data source, research methodology, our findings, and difficultiesencountered during this thesis work are explained.In chapter two, further investigation of the various forms of Simple ChineseDirectional Complement and Compound Chinese Directional Complement as well astheir usages and semantics in Indonesian language is expounded. In chapter three, the design of the questionnaire, the research procedures, theresearch principles, and the questionnaire respondents are explained. The results ofanalyzing and categorizing the types of errors in the usage of Chinese DirectionalComplement among Indonesian students using analytical theory are then given.In chapter four, the different types of errors frequently occurred among Indonesianstudents in their usage of Chinese Directional Complement are concluded. Teachingstrategy and advice are given accordingly in the hope that they would aid Indonesianstudents in their study of Chinese Directional Complement.In chapter five, the conclusion of this thesis work as well as directions andsuggestions for similar research endeavors in the future are given. |
