The thesis focuses on Kang Zhuo’s literature and literary criticism. Theintroduction starts with the analysis of all of Kang Zhuo’s literature and presentresearches promoted by other scholars, and discusses the significance of the researchon Kang Zhuo’s literature and criticism.The text, consists of three parts, aims at comprehensively hackle and evaluateKang Zhuo’ literature and literary criticism. Chapter1begins with his fiction text tostudy novella theme, typical character and environment. The theme of Kang Zhuo’sfiction eulogizes the Land Reform, the Collectivization, the Great Leap Forward andthe System of Contracted Responsibility; the typical character moulds images ofpeasants, rural cadres and stubborn landlords; the typical environment describes theconflict between classes and feudal culture and new culture. Chapter2mainlyanalyses three types of Kang Zhuo’s prose: prose about people, prose about events andtravel notes. Most of the first type of prose is mourning prose that expresses theauthor’s love and praise to the deceased, and also some other types that accuse LinBiao, the Gang of Four and the “Left” thought. The second kind of prose refers to war,trifles, current affairs and the literary world. These proses embody distinct epochalcharacter and strong authenticity. What’s more, the style varies from literal to oral.Travel notes consist of inland travel notes and foreign travel notes. The formerfocuses on natural landscape and the latter focuses on human landscape. Chapter3overall analyses thought and practice of Kang Zhuo’s literary criticism. Review of hisliterature, comments on epochal literary and artistic phenomenon and criticisms onothers’ works. His literary criticism manifests in sticking to the spirit of Speech,emphasis on realistic literary and artistic creation，criticism on timely literary andartistic phenomenon and probe to the novelistic art.
