True Fiction Versus Fictional Truth

Meta-fiction is an intemalization that integrates the creation process into text consciously, which was born in1960’s. The meaning of meta-fiction is all built on the base of frame fracture of traditional real and fiction, it examines the frame in the real and fictional world, while examines the relationship of the real and imaginary through the frame. According to the game strategy, meta-fiction can be divided into these forms:end subversion, parallel interleaving, fragment, tuber, parody. These strategies break two factors:time and space, which used to determine the reality and imaginary, then, establish a different aesthetic. From the perspective of creation, stable factors in the traditional novel are useless, and creates some special effects such as unlogical link, language carnival, significance subversion. From the perspective of reading, on the one hand, meta-fiction also makes the illusion pleasure as same as the tradition, meanwhile it destructs the illusion, forcing reader’s expectation, come to nothing, making a double pleasure. On the other hand, meta-fiction causes a crisis of confidence between the reader and the narrator, and thus creates new reading life and completes reading to upgrade from pleasure to wisdom. Trace back to the historical background of the meta-fiction, it was the special historical period after World War II, the people had been physically injured and mentally affected. It happened to meet the linguistic turn and the occurrence of deconstruction in philosophy. The literature was dropping into the panic of deadlock, the postmodern culture needed urgently to find a new direction to adapt to. By this token, the "narcissistic" complex of meta-fiction is a spontaneous performance when faced a variety of crises. After all, meta-fiction is not just a useless game.
