The Initial Analysis On Shiwen By Mou Yingzhen

Lived in the period of Qianlong, Jiaqing and Daoguang of the Qing Dynasty, Mou Yingzhen was a scholar covered a wide range and having abundant works in his life. Maoshizhiyi, all six kinds and twenty-four volumes, contains all of Mou’s achievements in the study of The Book of Songs. As one of the most representative works, The six volumes of Shiwen has condensed Mou’s main theory of the study of The Book of Songs. However, because of never getting any high positions, Mou Yingzhen was stranded in one’s to the counties in his whole life, and his academic achievement has not aroused enough attention in the academic world to this day.Taking the six volumes of Shiwen by Mou Yingzhen as the research object, this thesis focuses on the systematic study of Shiwen mainly from the following four aspects:the first is Mou Yingzhen’s life and writings, in the next place is the thought of the study of The Book of Songs of Shiwen, the third is the principle of explanation of Shiwen and the last is the literary appreciation on The Book of Songs. This paper strives to dig out Mou’s academic achievements in the study of The Book of Songs and to analyse the value of Shiwen in the meantime. This paper mainly includes the following contents: The preface introduction introduces the research origin of my study, reviews the present research situation of Shiwen by Mou Yingzhen and then presents the research programme of this thesis.The first chapter investigates Mou’s family, lifetime activities and the situation of his writings, and then discusses the style, writing purpose and different editions of Shiwen.The second chapter mainly discusses Shiwen’s thought of the study of The Book of Songs by Mou Yingzhen from the macro perspective. Including its writing background, the recognizing of the basic ideas about the study of The Book of Songs and its criticism towards previous theories, which is mainly about Shixu and Shijizhuan by Zhu Xi.The third chapter mainly discusses Shiwen’s understanding principles of The Book of Songs from the micro perspective. This paper discuss Shiwen’s interpretation principles of The Book of Songs mainly from the following four aspacts:to choose and follow what is good from a wide range of different point of views; to analyse the meaning of songs from the way The Book of Songs is; to understand the meaning of poems of The Book of Songs from the analysis of the history and to establish the meaning of poems of The Book of Songs with abundant references.The fourth chapter discusses Shiwen’s appreciation towards The Book of Song from the literary viewpoint. Which is mainly including the understanding of the meaning of "Fu Bi Xing" of The Book of Songs, the analysis of the structure of poetry and the appreciation of the meaning of poetry. All of these has together formed the literary realization to The Book of Songs by Shiwen of Mou Yingzhen.The conclusion sums up the value and defects of Shiwen, and then analyses its academic position in the Qing Dynasty.
