This paper is mainly on leader speech, with the method of linguistics,according toanalysis vocabulary, syntax and figures in Zhu Rongji’s speech to get a quantitative statisticalanalysis on the leader speech. We hope to provide scientific and comprehensive guidance forpromoting the level of leader speech. Thesis consists of intrduction, body and conclusion.The first chapter “intrduction”, points out the history and current situation of leaderspeech,discussed existing problems and proposed this topic’s purpose and meaning, and thetheories and research methods adopted.In the body part, this paper investigates the existing problems in leader speech fromvocabulary, syntax and figures,and proposes targeted solutioins considering usages, to makethe research more relevant and useful.The second chapter analyzes the speech strategies from vocabulary aspect. Mainly foruse basic vocabulary flexibly, focus on general vocabulary and use idioms timely andappropriatly.Chapter three examines the speech stategies from syntax aspect. Mainly for sentencechanges. Use exclamatory sentences and interrogative sentences appropriatly, combinedaffirmative and negative sentences, use complex sentences timely, and combination of shortand long sentences.Chapter four discusses the speech stategies from figure aspect. Mainly analysis therepresentative figures in leader speech.(setquestion, reference, metaphor, metonymy, irony,parallelism, compare, repeated, comparison and nonce words) features, rhetorical effect andthe note of usage.Chapter five analyzes the phenomenon of colloquial in the speech.In the conclusion part, it makes a brief summary of the linguistic strategies about leaderspeech, based on the previous chapters’ work. Furthermore, it evaluates the innovation andinadequacies of this research.
