Phonetic Study On1957Edition To2011Edition Of Xinhua Dictionary

This paper collect the information of phonetic change in Xinhua Dictionary from1957edition to2011edition and established the information database. Phonetic forms and phoneticcontents over a contrast and synchronic research in Xinhua Dictionary, we summarizesphonetic problems in the profit and loss in the past fifty years to Xinhua Dictionary, andpoints out the existing problems. The article proposed the solution.This article is divided into six chapters:The first chapter is the introduction, points four parts mainly introduced1957edition to2011edition of Xinhua Dictionary research objects, research purpose, research backgroundand methods of research.The second chapter have a basically investigation and study on the phonetic notationforms of Xinhua dictionary. Phonetic forms have two parts: one is phonetic methods and theanother is phonetic position. Xinhua Dictionary, mainly use phonetic alphabet and theChinese phonetic alphabet scheme. In the process of phonetic notation, Xinhua Dictionarydistinguish phonetic position between phonetic notation on the head and phonetic notationfrom the comments.The third chapter basically discuss better phonetic notation in Xinhua Dictionary,including characters of variant pronunciations, characters of softly sound, characters thatpronunciations changed and characters have same forms. In the characters of variantpronunciations part, we think Xinhua Dictionary generally complied the national standards,but both differences should cause enough attention, according the contrast between XinhuaDictionary and Correct Pronunciations of Variant Pronunciations in Mandarin. In thecharacters of softly sound part, we think Xinhua Dictionary give characters of softly soundproper phonetic notation except some special softly characters according the research onnotional words and function words that have softly sound. In the part of characters thatpronunciations changed,we find the reasons for pronunciations changing, and thecharacteristics of these characters decide that characters that pronunciations changed shouldremain their pronunciations until some national standards come out. In the characters havesame forms part, we think that the change of form numbers is sufficient conditions to thechange of phonetic notation according the research of form changing in Xinhua Dictionary. The fourth chapter basically discuss the correct phonetic notation in Xinhua Dictionary,including characters used in names, in places, in dialect, in ancient Chinese and so on. Wethrough the number of words in all kinds of special statistics and text description, thinkXinhua Dictionary, using words of the special phonetic although there are still some problems,but has remained relatively more perfect for other dictionaries compilation with revision ofgive the reference material.Chapter5gives the conclusion of this study, points out the shortcomings of this paper. Thefuture research plan is also included.
