Bo Yi and Shu Qi was treated as a double model of the hermit and the world since theancient. From folklore to literature and singing, and then into a moral role models, theybecome a rich connotation of cultural symbols in Chinese culture. This paper systematicallycomb their story and the spread and the development situation of their image. Summarizes thecharacteristics of the image of Yi Qi in various periods, and made a thorough study to severaltypical text,reveals the cultural connotation of Yi Qi reflected in the evolution of the image.The article is divided into four chapters:The first chapter analyze the ancient sage’s records to Bo Yi and Shu Qi. Their story andimage is in constant evolution and improvement, Yi Qi’s image has been recorded in Qinbooks, but the opinions are different and more obscure. According to previous records,combined with his own knowledge, Sima Qian write "Bo Yi Shu Qi Biography" in "HistoricalRecords", shaped they to be a "Sage". He has made outstanding contributions to the spread ofYi Qi’s story.The second chapter combed poetry, scholar notes and other art forms. From these, wecan see the influences that Yi Qi’s story to the ancient Chinese people. But also theypresented their views on YiQi’s story and spirit. These different ways make the image of theirflame more lofty, also have made an indelible contributions to YiQi’s deeds can be penetrateall aspects of ancient Chinese culture.The third chapter is to explore the ancient novelist is how to interpret the BoYi and ShuQi, with "Doupeng Xianhua" as the key point. Most ancient novelists praised them. But AinaJushi constitute Shu Qi to be a "villain" image. In the backdrop of the generation of the Mingand Qing, with the aid of adaptation of historical story,Aina Jushi censures false nobleconduit of literati,but also show a strong sense of self-expression.With "Old Tales Retold" as the center, the fourth chapter examine the change of Yi Qi’simage and its cultural implication in the new culture background. Lu Xun has revolutionizedthe image of BoYi and Shu Qi, mold them into an "ordinary people" who afraid to die,insatiable and struggle for eating and drinking. While his criticism of the traditional cultureevil, also implies "new culture" in the creative ideas, but also refract his own inner world.
