Henan is a province with rich drama. Recently the development of the Yu drama inHenan is heated up. Chen Yong-quan, the young drama writer has made outstandingcontribution in the evolution of Yu drama. He produced a lot of valuable works after hissteadily increasing success of large-scale tragicomedy <Ah Q and Kong Yi-ji> in year1995.These works get the provincial even a national award, and some of them were listed in thetextbook of college Chinese. All of this makes Chen Yong-quan won many awards.This paper tries to make a classification to the work of Chen Yong-quan and carry oncertain degree analysis. Specifically speaking, the first chapter focuses on the innovation ofChen Yong-yuan’s rifacimento of Lu Xun’s works. Chen Yong-quan’s works<Ah Q and KongYi-ji> does not miss what the original work is even about. On the basic of Lu Xun works’profound thinking, Chen Yong-quan follows further intensive study on the literatureCharacters and highlight the characteristics in the combination of above two principles. Thecharacters all deteriorated by feudal system, all covered with dramatic mask, but preservedtheir tragic kernel. According to audience request, Chen Yong-quan revised action andlanguage of works which helped enhance audience aesthetic ability. The second chaptermainly analysis Chen Yong-quan’s modernity creation on basic of classical dramatist plays.Take his work <Cheng Ying Saves Orphan> as representative. This is derived from Yuan Zajuproduced by Ji Jun-xiang named <Orphan of the House Tcho> in Yuan Dynasty. Although thenarrative is the same story, Chen’s works reveals more powerful artistic appeal, makes thestory possesses elevated tragedy beauty. Chen highlights the charismatic of Cheng Ying,sacrifice for justice, bear the overall situation and self-sacrifice, and tell the people the spiritof ideas that good will defeat evil. Chapter3concentrates on Chen Yong-quan’s original exploration to the modern theme which is represented by “Brideshead”. This chapter mainlystarts from Zhu An, a feudal old-fashioned woman, even chooses to live a widowed life butneither leaves Lu Xun nor betrays him, although she cannot get love from him. Zhu An is asplendid representative of the old-fashioned woman’s tenacity and perseverance. Moreover,from the unique perspective of feminism, Lu Xun also comes out from the shrines andbecomes a real Lu Xun whom we are no longer looked up at, but view such a great man as acommon person. Chapter4is the reflection on the Chen Yong-quan’s opera creation from fourfacets respectively as follows: how can the adaptation of famous works further develop tomatch the modern and contemporary works; how can national cultural traditions and modernideology combine well under current social context, so as to nurture the audience withexcellent traditional thought as well as further accept the initiation of modern concepts; In thecreation of realistic themes, how can highlight the spirit of the age and show the humanconnotation; the last question is the cultivation of audience for Henan drama. All these issuesneed to be concerned by the dramatistsChen Yong-quan is an excellent young drama writer. To make intensive research on ChenYoung-quan’s works not only good for his further creation but also offer some favorablereference for development of Henan drama, while provide feasible thought sources for Henanas a culture strong province.
