The study on conjunctions is a weak link Function Words research, for attention of academic circle on conjunction has been concentrated upon the noumenon studies(case study and comparative study of similar conjunctions, etc. included), while few studies of the conjunctions have been conducted from the perspective of error analysis systematically or deeply. For quite some time, especially compared with discuss on adverbs, adjectives or verbs, study on Chinese conjunctions has merely been developed in a wandering state, meanwhile, there are no very significant academic achievements at home and abroad. In practical application of language, conjunction "AND" is always used frequently, and more flexibly, thus, difficulties on reading comprehension difficulties and misunderstanding will easily appear, if without mastering application norms of conjunctions in a wrong way. This is particularly prominent in Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language, Chinese conjunctions are unique in its complexity, which will undoubtedly bring about some learning difficulty for those Chinese students without Chinese cultural context.This thesis collected a great quantity of compositions of overseas students about conjunction ’AND’ from the Beijing Language and Culture University HSK Dynamic Composition Corpus, marching a comparative analysis and collation upon the occurring biased errors. Biased errors of making use of the conjunction "AND" of the overseas students fall into several categories:incorrect adding, wrong order and omissions of "AND". With a view to apply teaching foreign language conjunction, mainly based on the theoretical studies results of conjunctions, this paper explores and studies’AND’in small class. At the same time, this thesis is looking forwarding to provide some available guidance recommendations to the practice of teaching Chinese as a foreign language, through describing language facts of biased errors, studying the use of conjunction, making a summary of types of biased errors and the causes, exploring the bias-based teaching strategies, as well as coming up with teaching strategies discussion on the basis of biased errors.The full text is divided into five chapters. Chapter1introduces the purposes and significance of selecting this title, and the domestic studies on conjunctions noumenon and biased errors; Chapter2mainly presents the basic types of the errors in the overseas students’use of the conjunction "AND", which fall into three kinds—Default, Mistakenly Added and Misuse, also it classifies and analyses each type; Based on syntactic and semantic analysis from the bias of the conjunction’AND’, Chapter3expounds and studies from the following aspects:chiefly around the parallel structure of direct combination the use of the conjunction’AND’, the position of’AND’in the tied items, comparative analysis of AND’and relevant conjunctions, combined phrases composed of heterogeneous words made from’AND’. Chapter4elaborates the teaching strategies of conjunction’AND’; As the conclusion, Chapter5summarizes the main ideas and innovations of this article, and questions which require to be further explored.When refers to studies on Conjunction’AND’, attentions should be paid to the comparative survey of instances as well as exploration methods. The comparative survey of instances, includes the comparison between characteristics of writing use on’AND’and range of’AND’in folk oral which contains comparing with some other conjunctions with the similar usage and function, comparisons of dialects, similar corresponding conjunctions in foreign languages included. Such comparisons, not only can lead people a deeper and more comprehensive cognition of features of’AND’, but also dramatically broaden conjunction total view of synchronic research. Grammatically, certain investigation methods of sociolinguistics should be used for refence, which will be a new issue for pragmatics research of conjunctions. It’s known that application range of’AND’is flexible, so there occur some questions:Can or cannot it be used in some certain pragmatic situation? What is the condition of using or no using? What is the result of using or no using? Will the range of some usages be extended or narrowed? To reach a conclusion, all the above questions demand a number of specific survey methods after collecting and recording. On analysis of oral materials, concerns should made on characteristics of’AND’when observing discourse coherence with method of discourse analysis, and under what condition will’AND’be the linking up means of discourse and words. All in all, intension of study on’AND’in oral application will reach many grammatical features which can be scarcely or even not seen in written language. In conclusion, no matter to study on’AND’, but also studies on all the Chinese conjunctions, vertical historical exploration is a way, meanwhile, description of lateral, multilevel and a variety of methods is also a research method. A combination of both will lead the emergence of a new situation in the study of Chinese conjunctions, and bear fruitful results.
