The Study Of Color Words Of Cyan Spectrum(Morphemes) In Du Fu’s Poetry

Color words, an important part in Chinese vocabulary system, have a particular character. This essay studies on cyan colors, choosing Du Fu’s poetries as source and combining with specific context. Considering Du Fu’s point of views and image he wanted to describe, I analyzed the grammatical meanings and structures of those cyan colors. What I have done are as follows;1.Tracing back to the origins of those single-word words refer to cyan colors (such as dark green, azure green, bottle green, green, blue, dark blue, black) and comprehending their meanings.2.Recording the frequency of those cyan colors appeared in Du Fu’s poetries and analyzing the ways of matching.3. Explaining the henomenon of based on chromatology, psychology, cultural-study and cognitive language study and combined with some cases.4. Using methods of metaphor and metonymy to appreciate those colors morphemes’rhetoric in aspects of linguistics and poetic aesthetics.In my study, I try to find out every colors word’s original meaning, then the extended meaning, and at last the pragmatic meaning. During the process, from the cognitive angle, I paid more attention to author’s point of views while not the history and social factors to analyze the changes of meanings of each word. From this study, I know that the practice of language is not only restricted by the grammar, but also people’s experiences and cognitions. For example,“Peach blossom red to be lebanon, willow green to be new” There are a lot to study on the color words through the functions of poetry to express one’s emotion and the function of language of implicit meaning. If you want to know more about the poetry’s language, the study of color words is just a tip of an iceberg.
