Mo Yan is the most innovative and productive contemporary writer. During his30years of writing, he adhered to the spirit of innovation, and created considerable unique works, which contributed tremendously to the contemporary literature. In the mid-1980s, influenced by the Latin American Magical Realism, Mo Yan completely changed his writing style from gentle feelings and realistic style into a combination of bold Latin American Magic Realism, polyphonic novel, stream of consciousness and carnival language, creating a brilliant magnificent novel world. Due to the similarities in the natural environment, social environment and cultural traditions between China and Latin America, Mo Yan, during that period of time, boldly drew on the Latin American Magical Realism in theme, structure, and image. He also tried to apply means of symbolism, absurdity, deformation, exaggeration, and stream of consciousness. While borrowing the western way of creation, especially Latin American Magical Realism, Mo Yan has always been exploring the fusion with traditional Chinese culture and national spirit. After2000, his novels have surpassed the previous Latin American Magical Realism, and show more and more "Chinese elements","Chinese style" and "national impression". Mo Yan’s works, after considerable reference and selective inheritance, have eventually formed his own unique modern art style fused with traditional Chinese literature.
