The dialect of Huzhou is a small branch of goetian whose usage covers the entireTaihu-lake domain. It has very special features in pronunciation, vocabulary andgrammar in comparison with others but few investigations were ever reported,needless to say a detailed examination on its interjections. This thesis is aimed tomake a thorough investigation on the interjections of Huzhou dialect, and is welldivided into seven chapters. The author would be very appreciated if the work makessome contribution to the research of Huzhou dialect.The first chapter is introduction, mainly a survey of previous research and ademonstration of objective, aim and language resources of this thesis. In the firstchapter, individual interjection encountered in Huzhou dialect will be systematicallyclassified and described respectively; in the second chapter, analysis towardinterjections will be carried out based on their language meaning, sentence positionand context; in the third chapter, as an example, theoretical analysis will be performedespecially applying relevance theory to the typical interjection “Wa”; in the fourthchapter, analysis will be performed to the special double-consecutive andtriple-consecutive usage phenomenon of interjections and draw some conclusions onthe combination rule of interjections in Huzhou dialect; in the fifth chapter, the authorwill start from the internal comparison between interjections and illustrate why oneinterjection can not be used in the same or similar grammatical positions. In the sixthchapter, a conclusion will be made with some discussions on the subjects that havenot been well investigated; in the meantime, the author will raise some considerationsto the further investigation in the future.
