In recent years, our country’s higher vocational education hasdeveloped very quickly; English teaching has become an importantpart of higher vocational education. However, there is an increasingproblem that it can not adapt to the reform and opening up or meetthe requirements of economic development of the country. There arecalls for deepening the reform of English teaching in vocational schoolof higher education. The general consensus is that the foreignlanguage education system and foreign language teaching methodsmust undergo reform. Krashen’s Input Hypothesis has made enduringcontribution to second language acquisition research and producedan extensive and far-reaching influence on foreign language teachingboth at home and abroad. As far as the value of its application isconcerned, the input hypothesis provides an important reference forChinas foreign language teaching research.Students enrolling in vocational schools of higher education arejunior middle school graduates, whose English levels vary greatly. Thereform of educational system has positive significance for applying theeducational concept that higher vocational education aims at theemployment of graduates and cultivation of their abilities to enablestudents to acquire relevant professional abilities for employment andpromote sustainable social and economic development.In this paper, some of the problems with English teaching invocational school of higher education are discussed and tentativesuggestions made. With reference to the theory of Input Hypothesis, it isintended to explore the way of promoting second language acquisitionof non-English major students. Second language acquisition is acomplex process. Theories on second language acquisition indicatethat in the process of acquiring a second language the input of a language plays a very important role.In short, English teaching in vocational school of higher educationhas its own characteristics. As an important component of highervocational education, its quality is closely related to the developmentof higher vocational education in our country. The reform of highervocational education is the only way to enhance its quality. In carryingout the reforms of higher vocational education, we should make full useof second language acquisition theories, make rational analysis andprovide treatment of problems. In accordance with the practicalsituation of English teaching in vocational school of higher education,we should analyze the characteristics of students, and strive to truly puttheory into practice in order to improve the effect of second languageacquisition.
