A Research On Shen Congwen’s Triple—level World

Shen Congwen is a writer with very peculiar class origin and experiences, who plays a very important role in the history of modern Chinese literature. Meanwhile, he is also a writer who has caused a great deal of controversy in the literary circle. The Xiangxi world, which is described by him, has attracted future generations for continual interpretation and explanation. This paper sorts out Shen Congwen’s theory about literature creation and author by using the related theories of reception aesthetics and hermeneutics. Thus his works are divided into three dimensions, that is,"triple world". Under the guidance of the three dimensions, the author analyzes the deep causes of Shen Congwen’s literature creation, and studies the acceptance of Shen Congwen’s works at different times. Furthermore, the author studies the influence of Shen Congwen’s works on the contemporary society with an aim to demonstrate the unique value and deep meaning of his works.The paper is divided into six parts.The first chapter is the introduction, which summaries the general idea of the paper through stating the purpose and significance of the paper, present situation of research, and research thoughts and methods.The second chapter elaborates the concept of "world", and how the author divides the "world" into three parts. This chapter mainly explains what the "world" means, and its important enlightenment on the formation of paper framework. In the end, this chapter introduces the division of author’s triple world.The third chapter discusses the first level of the "world", that is, Shen Congwen psychological world. By reading the autobiography of the writer and many other relevant materials, the author explores how Shen Congwen became a writer and the spiritual journey of him as a great writer. This part focuses on the reasons for the developing of his unique personality and temperament.The fourth chapter is about the author’s second level of the "world" that is, the world of writing. In this chapter, the author separates the world of literature creation from the one of writing, and views that the world of writing belongs more to the writer, while the world of literature creation more to the reader. It is because of writing that the writer began to experience the change of his own spiritual course.The changed course is the core part of the world of writing, and outlines how Shen Congwen finds a way out of the then embarrassing situation.Chapter V deals with the literary world of Shen Congwen, which is the highlight of the paper. The author believes that when the text form of literature creation appears, the world of writing becomes the world of literature creation, that is, the publishing of the works marks the beginning of the reader’s finding their meaning while reading.This chapter first explores the meaning of literature, followed by dividing the Shen Congwen’s works into two categories according to his process of literature creation:one is the writing of illusive native Xiangxi, and the other is the criticism of the sick civilization in modern cities. By adopting the aesthetics of reception theory, the author elaborates on Border Town in detail in order to demonstrate the particular value and significance of his works in contemporary times. At last, the author explores the current interpretation and acceptance of Shen Congwen’s works, and its important aesthetic properties and values to the current context culture.Chapter six is the conclusion, which summarizes the thread and focus of the paper, and highlights the point of the view and value of this paper.
