The major purposes of the research are to design a hope programe for primary school children and to investigate its immediate and continuous effects on hope and resilience.The research concludes two parts. In the first part, the hope program was designed on the basis of hope theory, the development of children’s psycholoy theory and positive psychology theory. In the second part, two classes of the fifth graders were participated in a pretest and posttest and follow-up test quasi-experimental design. There were51students in the experimental group and another51students in the control group class. Students in the experimental group participated in the hope program which made students experice agency thinking, pathways thinking, and resilience for10weeks,40minutes/week and was treated as independent variable. And then, they were interviewed by the researcher when the program was over."The Children’s Hope Scale"and "Resilience Scale for Elementary School Students" were used to examine the subjects’ hopeness and resilience, which were treated as dependent variable. In addtion,"Learning Sheet","Curriculum Observation Record","Curriculum Feedback Sheet" and the interview records were analyzed as the qualitative data.These research main results were as following:1."Hope program" has siginificant immediate and persistent effects of hope on the fifth graders.2."Hope program" has siginificant immediate and persistent effects of resilience on the fifth graders. 3. Students in experimental group class like"Hope program" and benifit from it.4."Hope program" is approved by the head teacher of experimental group class.The findings suggest that "Hope program" has significant immediate and persistent effects on hope and resilience of children in experimental group class, and meets their needs effectively.
