This dissertation studies the buzzwords and expressions originated from Japanese, against the background of a new era of ACG, and based on our survey among the young generation in Shanghai. A list of buzzwords and expressions with three levels is built and a thorough investigation into "Kong" and "Deshuo" is carried out. With the database of the overall research results and the analysis of some outstanding cases, we summarize the characteristics, causes, trends and revelations. The paper consists of six parts.Chapter One presents the background of the topic. With the presence of "The New Era of ACG", ACG industry are closely related to the languages and cultures. Against the domestic study of buzzwords and expressions originated from Japanese and its problems, theoretical and applied values of this paper are raised, and also the objects and aims of this study.In the second chapter, we collect the results of our research in Shanghai and build a list of buzzwords and expressions of ACG with three levels. And we classify these words according to the degree of popularity, sources, methods of localization and different language units.In the third chapter, we have an all-round, multi-angle research on "Kong". The use of this word among the youth is introduced, and the semantic and pragmatic developments of "Kong" are examined."Kong" is determined as a para-affix. We analyze the characteristics of the new words with "Kong", and the impacts that cause the affixization of "Kong" from the aspect of both languages and also the society. Other para-affixes are introduced. Fourthly, we thoroughly investigate "Deshuo". In combination with the survey results, we focus on the its core meanings and functions, its pragmatical functions and features, and its formation and causes of emergence. We discuss the emergence and popularity of other similar words, and also the law of language that’s implied.Chapter Five, on the basis of the first four chapters, analyzes and summarizes the characteristics, the causes of popularity, and the trends of these buzzwords and expressions. It also points out the revelations about the society and the youth brought by these words and expressionsThe final chapter summarizes the work done and points out the inadequacies of this dissertation and the direction of future work.
