Women undertake the important task of breeding. Their health relates to the family’s well-being and the improvement of population quality. At early days, new China regarded promoting women’s physical and psychological health as one of the primary tasks, and the main factor affecting women’s physical and psychological health is fertility safety. Therefore, after its founding, new China takes use of the administrative power to enact a series of policies, laws and regulations to protect women’s fertility health right, and establishes the health care institutions to improve women’s fertility situations. Every province, municipal government and joint social groups also have started women’s fertility and health care career. Chengdu, as the provincial government center in the Sichuan region, also set up a large number of women’s fertility and health care institutions, helping local women reduce their dangerous and painful fertility with a new delivery methods, at the same time, implementing labor protection on the pregnant women and puerperal who work in the urban and rural area, etc.We take Chengdu for example in this paper to examine women’s fertility and health care career in the early days of new China, and show an overview of the women’s fertility and health care career of the whole nation based on the case studies. This paper, except the introduction and conclusion, is divided into four chapters. The first part traces back and outlined the origins of the ideas of women’s (?)ility and health care career, pointing out that the influence which Chinese traditional birth culture has on the women’s fertility and health care work, as well as the beginning and the development of the women’s fertility and health care career, and then further points out the problems of this career in this period. The (?)ond part discusses the urgency of women’s fertility and health care and the development and the achievements of the women’s fertility health care in the early days. The third part is the focus of this article that takes Chengdu for a special example to dissect the measures and the achievements of the women’s fertility and health care which the government has achieved in the early days. The fourth part is the deep analysis and the thinking of the full text. At first, we make an overall appraisal on the women’s fertility and health care career of the early days, analyzing this career’characteristics, achievements and shortage, then we analyze the inspiration on the today’s women fertility health care career.At present, many countries have formed a habit of respecting and protecting women, recognizing women’s status and special contribution, also, have adopted various methods to help women in the fertility stage, protecting their physical health. China proposes the women’development and thinks we should judge women’s development according to their health, among those, women’s fertility health is the main factor. This article takes history as a mirror, through introspecting the pros and cons of the early days of women’s fertility and health care work, on the one hand, can better guide today’s women’s fertility and health care career; on the other hand, can has a further positive meaning to change the old concept of fertility and promote women’s physical and mental health。...
