In the early days of the founding of the people's Republic of China,Chinese women's education level was very low,and more than 90% of the women were illiterate.In rural areas,the number of illiterate women accounted for more than 95% of the total number of illiterate.The existence of a large number of illiterate women seriously affects the recovery and development of China's national economy and the implementation of women's rights.In order to improve the cultural level of women,there was carring out a vigorous activities of women literacy education.However,in the countries of the political and economic construction tasks heavy,the cumbersome,laborious and slower of the rural women literacy education carried out is not smooth.In addition to leading cadres at all levels,especially the grass-roots cadres do not pay attention to the activities,the restriction of the traditional concept of women,family members and public pressure also bring many difficulties.Excluding the above subjective factors,there were no clear understanding of the leading bodies,the lack of suitable for adult women to use the teaching materials,no outstanding teachers and other issues also restricted the development of literacy education.Although facing many difficulties,under the leadership of the central government,the literacy education across the country is still gradually developing.All teachers of literacy summarized the appropriate content for the rural women in the practical teaching,found a balance with labor and studying,found good teaching method for cognitive habits and rules of adult women.Specially in the central government to strengthen the ideological education of the leading cadres at all levels,from the central to local the literacy education established corresponding leading institutions,strengthened the rural women's literacy education guidance,literacy education has gradually become normal.Between 1949 and 1958,rural women's literacy education has achieved fruitful results.First of all,literacy education has greatly improved the rural women's cultural level,which help them learning the advanced production technology and advanced production tools,finally can improve the labor productivity.Secondly,political education of the literacy education can improve the ideological consciousness of rural women,so that they really have the consciousness of the masters of the country;Thirdly,literacy education in maternal and child health knowledge provide the rural women and children's health a guarantee.The health care science,greatly improving the infant birth rate,which has promoted the harmonious development of rural families.Recalling the early period of the founding of new China,the rural women's literacy education has not only been effective,but also has some shortcomings.It can provide some reference for today's women's Liberation and social development.
