The temporal conception is essential in language expressions, which is usually realized by tense and aspect. In the process of language acquisition, tense and aspect is the difficulty of English teaching and learning. Tense and aspect acquisition is a complex process, which is an important part in language acquisition research. Many scholars have studied the process of tense and aspect acquisition from various perspectives, to know the process and search for good teaching methodology. The thesis takes tense and aspect in compositions as research target, which is from narrative composition, picture composition and argumentative composition written by non-English major sophomores in a vocational and technical college. The distribution and the errors of tense and aspect are analyzed in frequency and category through contrastive analysis and error analysis. The results reveal that the simple present tense and simple past tense are most frequently employed, while aspects are seldom applied. The morphologically inflectional errors are dominant in tense and aspect errors. The causes of tense and aspect errors are studies on the basis of the results.
