"MaoshiZhengyi", fabricated by Kong Yingda under the command of TangTaizong,is one of the" five classics ".It is not only the mostrepresentative work of the five classics, but also the most valuableone.It has always been the research focus of the academicthought,commentary thought,poetics,literary theory and literarycriticism and the special works that study from the angle of exegesis israre.This article intends to collate Kong Yingda’s exegetical materialsof "MaoshiZhengyi" from the angle of exegetical method so as to make acomprehensive study of the exegesis methods of "MaoshiZhengyi", tosupplement the "MaoshiZhengyi"’s exegetical value, and to offer acorrect evaluation to this master in the field of the exegesis.The most important task of the exegesis is to explain the words,therefore the so-called exegetical methods are mainly the ways ofinterpretation of the words.The exegetical methods of the traditionalexegetical study are xingxun、yixun and yinxun. On the foundation of theancestor’s methods, Kong Yingda developed a further study by the meansof grammar and figures of speech. The first two chapters of this paperelaborate the achievements that "MaoshiZhengyi" has had in the field oftraditional methods from the aspect of yinxun and xingxun. The next twochapters mainly elaborate his new exegetical methods and new foundingsfrom the aspect of grammar and figures of speech.This paper can be divided into six parts:I.Preface: The introduction of the life of Kong Yingda and thebackground, research status and other relevant circumstances of the bookof "MaoshiZhengyi".II.The method of studying Exegesis by sound: This chapter exploresKong Yingda’s understanding of the relationship between sound and meaning from Deriving etymology、 broken read under the guise andcollation word-error, mainly focusing on the exegetical method of"Getting the meanings from the sound ".III.The method of studying Exegesis by vocabulary: Firstly, from theview of the exegetical method of meaning, Kong Yingda’s way to usesynonyms to explain the word is studied.Then through the analysis of KongYingda’s practice of using semantic extension of words to explain thewords, his recognition of its rule is studied.IV.The method of studying Exegesis by grammar: This chapter exploresand explains the ways to explain the meaning of words from the aspectsof lexical and syntactic methods developed by Kong Yingda to summarizehis great contribution to the development in the history of Chinesetraditional grammar.V.The method of studying the Exegesis by figures of speech: Thischapter expounds Kong Yingda’s new methods by analyzing the rhetoricaldevices of the ancient people as well as exploring and explaining themeaning of a word from the perspectives of rhetoric tools and discourserhetoric tools.VI.Conclusion: To summarize Kong Yingda’s achievements and statusin the history of exegesis, the examination of the inheritance andcriticism of"MaoshiZhengyi" to “Mao Zhuan" and "Zheng Jian" gives us acorrect direction to evaluate this master in the history of exegesis.
