This paper tries to study the characteristics of some international students as well as their learningcharacters with the basis of deep study of international students who are learning Chinese but with Russianback ground as their native language in the Foreign Studies Institute of Education, Guangdong University ofForeign Studies. The paper tries to get the research points with the methods of questionnaire, data collation andstatistics analysis objectively and actually. With the basis of many important domestic and foreign relevantscientific theory, the paper also discusses these questions such as what are to be taught to the specialinternational students, how to teach them and how to arrange the curriculum, etc. so as to get some valuablefindings which can give some advices for teaching Chinese as a foreign language to internal students.Exploring such questions as language teaching methods and teaching art are always everlasting researchtopics to education experts and educators all over the world. Yet, the research focuses are different due to thedevelopment of times and the changing of learning content in different eras. Teaching Chinese as a foreignlanguage is a second language teaching whose learners are mainly adults and whose teaching methods arespecial. While the existing theoretical research are almost carried out on the perspective of teacher or instructor,this study starts from the learner’s perspective and discusses the uniqueness of its content and ways forteaching Chinese as a foreign language to get some meaningful findings and suggestions for itsimplementation.One of the difficulties in teaching Chinese as a foreign language is how to mobilize the enthusiasm of theinternational students and how to maintain their interest in learning. Slavic and Chinese languages are sodifferent that the difficulties for Russian students to learn Chinese are much larger than that for Japanese,Korean, Vietnamese, etc. So, we should take flexible content and use different methods for different learners inteaching Chinese as a second language, which is very important for the improvement of classroom instructionand students’ capability of language using.
