Chinese language is one of the most difficult languages to learn. Its pronunciation, tones,grammar and characters are not easy to learn. Every language learning starts from phonetics.That is why it is very important to pay attention to this part and produce qualitative teaching.Incorrect pronunciation can cause misunderstanding and certain barrier incommunication. There is no doubt that during learning to pronounce correctly some soundsstudents will face difficulties, so to make it easier for foreigners to learn phonetics and tofasten this process we should deeply research what are the common questions and try to solvethem, provide better teaching methods.This article is devoted to a research on teaching Chinese pronunciation to overseasstudents whose mother language is Russian. The main aim is to make a deep-rooted research,find out and summarize the sounds and tones which are most difficult to learn and pronounce,use questionnaire to find what methods teachers and students are using to learn pronunciation,according to that advice new effective teaching methods. The article has three main parts:1. The comparison of Chinese and Russsian pronunciation. Through the comparison oftwo phonetic systems and its analysis the diferences in vowels, consonants, syllables andtones will be found.2. The investigation and the analysis of Russian students’ mistakes in Chinesepronunciation. According to the results we will summarize problems which exist in vowelsand consonants’aspect, syllables and tones’aspect and in tone sandhi aspect.3. Strategies of the Chinese pronunciation teaching to Russian students. It contains thesummary of teaching methods such as imitation and repetition, reading out loud, usage of theChinese pronunciation software, usage of the tongue placements’ picture etc., which are themost useful for Russian students. This part also presents practical exercises for more effectiveteaching.
