TitleFrom consciousness to practice:The metamorphosis process of female subjectivity through close readings of Modern Chinese Literature classicsThis essay aims to explore the metamorphosis process of female subjectivity through close readings of Modern Chinese Literature classics like Xiao Hong’s " Tales of Hulan River", Ding Ling’s "Miss Sophie’s Diary", Eileen Chang’s "The First Incense Burnt","Lust· Caution", and Shen Congwen’s "Xiaoxiao"This thesis is divided into five sections:Ⅰ. Tragic female subjects due to the loss of "the right to decide one’s own life and death" in Xiao Hong’s "Tales of Hulan River".Ⅱ. The understanding and practice of "the discovery of self-desire" in Ding Ling’s "Miss Sophie’s Diary".Ⅲ. The dialectics of "self-awareness" and female enlightenment in Eileen Chang’s "The First Incense Burnt".Ⅳ. The montage and collapse of ideologies of the "self-formation of multiple subjects" as seen in Eileen Chang’s "Lust, Caution"V. The techniques and categories of the reconfiguration of relationships and the generation of new relationships in the "subjectivation of feminization" as seen in Shen Congwen’s "Xiaoxiao"。Finally, this essay will attempt to use the exclusive relationship between the female subject and the community minority to provide a discourse on the vicissitude of female subjects and its estrangement and discrimination with interpersonal relationships.
