Eye Movement Research Of English Reading Base On Flow

Flow Theory is introduced by Mihalyi Csiksszetmihalyi of American psychologist in70era20century.The central concept of Flow Theory--Flow state has been reseaching focus involving athletics and education.The study finding that Flow state exists in the foreign language classroom and English reading. Flow state can conduce to improve inner-motivation of English reading and learning efficiency.Taking English reading for example,the thesis is to explore the eye movement features of English reading base on Flow state by recording the subjects’eye movement.The advantages are that simultaneous measurement while reading,subjects are under normal reading scenario without disturbance and the date of subjects’eye movement are correctly recorded.It is guaranteed by the sensitive"504Eye view Monitoring systems produced by American Applied Science Laboratory"recording instrument,capturing the eye movement date at the speed of60times per second.The study of purposes are:(1)to explore English reading of Flow state by eye movement study tentatively.(2)to explore actuality and feature of English reading to college students of Flow state.(3)to compare the eye movement’s difference between the poor and excellent students of Flow state.(4)to explore relation between Flow State and the eye movement mode of English reading.(5)To suggest basis for improving the learning efficiency of college students.The study draws the following conclusions from the results of a series of experiments:1.The excellent students of Flow state is more absorbed in reading than the poor students.And the performance is more than the poor students,and tendency is coherence between the materials.2. The eye movement model to the excellent students of Flow state is very well.They use the long fixation time,long range of eye saccade and the low frequency fixation. This eye movement model concerns connection among sentence that is very well to integrality.It is more careful to process the article for the long fixation time.It suggeste that the excellent students of Flow state can process well the article. 3.Flow state selects difficulty of materials.Than the poor students of Flow state,the excellent students do disposer the difficult materials.4.1n English reading,Flow state can does improve the reading performance and efficiency.
