This study mainly investigated the groups of female translator appeared in modern times(1852-1919), the foreign literary translation activities they carried out and the features of theirtranslation works from the perspectives of translation studies and cultural studies, includingits background, achievements, strategies, methods and impact. The research object mainlyincludes two types: the Missionary translators from West to China and the local Chinesefemale translators, the latter also includes the group of local female translators in "femaleDuo" magazine and other groups of local female translators.The introduction summarizes the research on women’s literature and the translationworks of female translators and, and introduces the research content.The second chapter investigates the rise of the origin of female translators in moderntranslated literature from the aspects of the rise of the modern women’s movement, thedevelopment of the modern women’s education and the creation of the modern printingtechnology, periodicals and the bookstore.The third chapter combs the female missionary translators and the activities of its foreignliterature translation, explores the status and characteristics of the translation activities abouttheir foreign literature in the activities of the modern foreign literature translation, and theimpact of their translation to the Chinese women, children and Christian families and otheraspects, then analyzes the social factors and religious factors constrained and influenced theirtranslation activities.The fourth chapter introduces the related content of "female Duo" magazine, includingtwo aspects of the layout and the characteristics of the content, and then combs the translationworks of native women translators in "female Duo" magazine from the angle of the column’ssetting, explores the tendency of local female translators on the choice of theme in "femaleDuo" magazine from the three aspects of religion, family life and child education.The fifth chapter mainly introduces the translation works about foreign literature ofChinese local female translators, at first introduces the constitution of the native femaletranslator’s groups, and analyzes two prominent characteristics of the translation works’ theme, namely the female solicitude and patriotism, then interprets the translate strategies ofthe female translator from the angles of language style and so on, reveals that they arecharacterized by using Chinese names and place names and applying stories and poems.The six chapter summarizes the overview of the female translators’ translation works inmodern translation literature to identify its artistic characteristics, and excavates the value ofthe female translators’ translation works in the transition period of the modern andcontemporary literature.
