Lawrence wrote a letter to his friend Ernest Collins which was veryfamous later. In this letter Lawrence said “my great religion is a belief inthe blood”. Afterwards this belief was called “blood-consciousness”. Theacademics named it as “Lawrence’s manifesto of blood-consciousness”.Many researchers noted and interested in it.they also mentioned it intheir papers.but they didn’t talk it too much. The one reason is thatboth Lawrence and his works were so complex and during a long timeLawrence wasn’t admitted by the academics. The other reason is that filesabout the “blood-consciousness” were too scattered and disordered tocollect.AS Lawrence’s GREAT RELIGION,“blood-consciousness” wasactually the creature of the age. Its theoretical origin was several famousthinkers. The unique experience and Physiology knowledge ofLawrence were also the main reason. The manifesto of blood-consciousness marks the birth of “blood-consciousness”, whichexert an inestimable influence on Lawrence’s thought and creation. It wasthe core of Lawrence’s thought about The Trinity and the key to solve theproblem of male and female, nature and human. It was also the only wayto save the whole people. To the writing,“blood-consciousness” was notcompletely different from the other writers at the same time. But thesuccess of Lawrence was that he creates a quite different literary style, that’s one of the reason why Lawrence can hold an important place in theEnglish literary circles. So it is important and valuable to study the “blood-consciousness”which was ignored by the former academics in the past years. It can makeus learn Lawrence more and thoroughly, which also make sense ofstudying the English literary circles.
