Comparative Rhetoric Analysis In There Chinese Versions Of Pride And Prejudice

Rhetoric is an independent branch of linguistics has a long history. Rhetoric is the skilland the art form of use language. It is an important method that gives language livelyexpressive force. English and Chinese belongs to different languages. When rhetoricallinguistic expression, the great differences exist from word meaning, structure of sentencepatterns and organization of the text. It is hard to completely transmit the rhetoricphenomenon from one language to another language, because of the different between twolanguages and cultures. Comparing English classic, in order to find the best way of transmitrhetoric, enhance the expressiveness of linguistic, strengthen the infection of art, plentifulimagery of work, and decrease the function of rhetoric run off.Pride and Prejudice is the world classics by England author Jane Austin. There are morethan ten versions in China. The work become one of the world classic, the main reasons is thatthe original rhetoric linguistic style has its own. The original version use implicit andhumorous language to describe the characters personality, made the work out of the ordinary.The paper uses the original version publishes by Shanghai Foreign Language Education Presson May,2007. Pride and Prejudice three Chinese translation versions by Wang Keyi(Shanghai Translation Publishing House,2006Version), by Sun Zhili (Yilin Press,2010Version), and by Zhang Li, Zhang Yang (People’s Literature Publishing House,1993Version)as the linguistic data. The paper analysis from the different translated text to sum up the waysof applies rhetoric. The purposes are maximally close to original work and approximate therhetoric style, and develop new perspective of rhetoric.The paper consists of six chapters. Chapter one is introduction about the object, purpose,significance of study, and studies review about rhetoric and Pride and Prejudice. Chapter twois about contrastive study on the words and phrase from the different translated text,including noun, verb, adjective and preposition. Chapter three is about rhetoric analysis fromthe long sentence, using attributive clause, object clause, and adverbial clause to discuss therhetoric processing method. Chapter four mainly about text analysis consists of two forms:paragraph and dialogue. Chapter five is comparative analysis six figures of speeches. Chaptersix gives a conclusion of this study.
