"Zhaotong Fangyan Shuzheng" was originally compiled in1921.It mainly studies on Mr. Jiang Liangfu’s native dialect--Zhaotong dialect and tolal sixty years were spent to finish it. This book is about200thousand words and forty volumes, following "Ya" choreography forms, that is "words interpretation、above-ground interpretation、 earth interpretation、human interpretation、clothes interpretation、eating interpretation、palace interpretation、implement interpretation、museum interpretation" which are nine classifications and forty-two kinds in details.The author inherited fine tradition of "Xiaoxue" of Qing Dynasty, citing classics and dictionaries, researching detailedly.studing hard to find the right word and exploring deeply the evolutionary tracks of word meaning.With those traditions more than2000words in "Zhaotong Fangyan Shuzheng" have been compiled and proved.This book quoted a large number of modern Chinese literature, which will do lot of help to the research of Modern Chinese in terms of contents and methods.However, it also exposed many obvious problems as a result of being restricted by the era.The problems mainly are:incorrectly treating mandain as dialects and recording; multipie explanation to the same word; inappropriate、far—fetched and vague proof to the original words;only recording the pronouciation of the words without proving; non—uniform structures in the same context:wrong punctuations、frequent quotation mistakes. Tring best.I haved done a lot of distinguishing、supplying and studing work for the shortage of this book mentioned above. What’s more,I also have done a furcher rasearch on some Zhaotong dialect that "Zhaotong Fangyan Shuzheng" haven’t done before.
