Zhaotong Minzhong Industry Co.,Ltd.was founded on January 1,1931 and was founded by the chairman of the Yunnan Provincial Government Long Yun who was accompanied by An Enpu in Zhaotong to consolidate the rule in his hometown.It was the largest company in the Zhaotong region during the Republic of China.For the first time,this article uses Zhaotong Minzhong Industry Co.,Ltd.as a case study to sort out the background of the establishment of the company,business activities,organization system,etc.,to explore the reasons for the success of the company,and from the perspective of the early modernization of frontier ethnic areas.The company's influence on Zhaotong's society.Zhaotong is located in the northeast of Yunnan Province.It has abundant resources and many special products,but its economy is backward.In 1930,Long Yun sent An Enzhu to Zhaotong.An Enyi then set up an industrial company based on the land around Guanyin Temple to develop and build Zhaotong.The company "uses the nature of development to organize the application of public investment,and deals with the prosperity of the social economy in the production industry".The purpose of the first step is to increase the number of crops;the second step is to find the self-sufficiency of the essentials;and the third step is to find the raw material output becomes the output of industrial products.After the establishment of the company,it gradually developed industries such as cultivation,mining,power generation,deposit and loan,pawn,printing,rice milling,and transportation.Among them,first of all,there was a wasteland in Guanyin Temple.Purchasing more than 6,000 workers in the wasteland,reclaiming it as a cultivable seed field,and recruiting and cultivating the surrounding areas to build Xinmin Village,making it a big "farm" and changing the past absurd situation in the area.Second,develop the electric power industry.They dispatched personnel to Shanghai to purchase electric motors and related power generation equipment.They transported the motor to Zhaotong through “the back of the horse,” and set up an electric lamp factory to generate electricity to turn on the lights,which would allow Zhaotong people to bid farewell to the history of oil lamps.Third,coal and iron plants were established and coal mining was carried out around Zhaotong.The Maoba Mountain at the junction of Zhaotong,Daguan and Yiliang was mined for iron ore,smelted pig iron,and cast iron products.The products were sold well in the three counties of Zhao,Da,and Yu.In addition,the company also operates pawn,deposit,printing and other services.Affected by the social economy and the poor management of the company itself,after 1943,the company was in decline.In the early 1950 s,Zhaotong People's Government accepted and restructured industrial companies.The company has an important influence on Zhaotong's social economy,which is reflected in: 1.Zhaotong's economic development;2.Zhaotong's training of industrial and commercial talents;3.The dissemination of new ideas and concepts to promote Zhaotong's transformation of people's production,lifestyle and ideology.
