Self-esteem is always the focus subject for psychologist. Self-esteem has made greatachievements about the elementary children, the middle school and the college students in ourcountry. However, research on high school students study is extremely scarce. Self-esteemplays an important role in mental health life on high school students and it has the importantmeaning for the healthy personality and the formation of good the adjust ability. Therefore,exploring the structure high school students’ self-esteem, designing measurement tools ofhigh school students’ self-esteem, exploring the development characteristics and examininginfluencing factors the development of self-esteem will not only provide scientific theory topromote and cultivate high school students to develop high self-esteem but also provide acertain significance for healthy personality and the education teaching practice of high schoolstudents.First of all, based on literature theory analysis and the questionnaire survey to highschool students, we constructed the basic theoretical model of high school students‘self-esteem. Through the exploratory factor analysis and confirmatory factor analysis andtesting reliability and validity, we determined final model of the structure of high schoolstudents’ self-esteem and made up self-esteem self-assessment questionnaire of high schoolstudents of the localization. The secondly, we investigated high school students by thequestionnaires of the self-esteem and discussed its age and gender characteristics andinvestigated whether they are the only children, whether they are student cadre can effect onthe development of self-esteem. At last, we discussed school influencing mechanism ofself-esteem by regression analysis and path analysis on academic performance, peerrelationship, the relationship between teachers and students. The conclusions of this study areas follows:(1) The structure of the self-esteem of high school students is mainly composed ofself-competence, sense of significance, belongingness and appearance. The reliability and thevalidity of this questionnaire meets psychological measurement standard, which could be usedto the assessment tools of high school students’ self-esteem. (2) Only in self-competence dimension, the boy development level is significantly higher than girls, the others dimension and the total score of the self-esteem has no significant gender differences.(3) High school students’development level of self-esteem has a significant grade differences. From the development trend perspective, high school student’s self-esteem is into the inverted "V" shape, on the rise from Grade1to Grade2and on the decline from Grade2to Grade3, the highest self-esteem level of development is in Grade2in high school.(4) Only-children and students those who are not in self-esteem score have no significant difference. And the student cadres in the self self-competence, belonging dimension and self-esteem score is significantly higher than those who are not.(5) Peer relationship, the relationship between teachers and students, academic achievements are significant prediction to self-esteem. On the one hand the relationship between teachers and students directly influence the development of self-esteem, on the other hand, by academic performance indirectly affects the self-esteem.
