Self-esteem was one of the core elements of personality, the study of self-esteem was an important area of psychology. The development of middle school students’ self-esteem was a direct impact on their academic level and health development of their personality. It is conductive to understand the (Characteristics and influencing factors of the adolescent self-esteem development, which was good to their self-esteem and behavior. This research uses middle school students self-esteem scale, correlation and regression and other statistical techniques, we discussed students’self-esteem development characteristics and factors.This study of the dissertation included six parts as follow:The first part was literature summary. This section made a systematic exposition from the theoretical and empirical aspects of students’self-esteem and influencing factors. The theoretical studies included the definition, structural model and theory of self-esteem. The empirical study included self-esteem scale, the development of middle school students’self-esteem at home and abroad and its influencing factors.The second part was question proposed.This section outlined the purpose of the study, research sources and significance. It listed the problem to be solved in this study and made a new perspective combined with previous research. The third part was the purpose and significance of study.The third part was study methods.This section defined the concept of self-esteem, made a systematic introduction to the research tools, object (test), analysis methods and the preparation process of the questionnaire. The fifth part was research discussion. The study discussed the results and the shortcomings combined with previous studies and put forward their recommendations to relevant groups in order to enhance middle school students’self-esteem.The sixth part was the research findings. The study summarized the conditions and factors of middle school students’self-esteem on the basis of theoretical and empirical research, the conclusions are as follows: 1. Middle school students self-esteem measurement questionnaire had high reliability and validity. It can be used as an effective tool to measure middle school students’ self-esteem.2. The level of middle school students’ self-esteem had significant differences in terms of gender and one-child student category variables but had no significant difference in grades and class rank variable.3. There were significant differences in the basic family level of self-esteem of middle school students4. There were significant differences in parents of middle school students’ self-esteem level.5. Family teaching patterns and the classmates’ relationship had good explanatory power and predictability, while the explanatory power of the school teaching patterns was not obvious.
