Hunan embroidery has a long history of thousands of years which enjoys a close relationship with Chinese embroidery, judging from the unearthed embroidery treasures in the Chu cultural region of Hunan. As a multi-ethnic province, Hunan folk embroidery not only reserves the magic, romantic charm of Chu embroidery, but also blends in Hunan labor people’s new creation consciousness, enjoying an important position in Chinese national folk art.However, with the rapid development of modern industrialization, the traditional handicraft disappears silently. Nowadays, information transfer mode into thousands of families. Hunan folk embroidery, as well, develops difficultly, almost stagnates. Therefore, in this information dominant era, with the traditional culture closely keeps pace with the pace of times, it is high time to carry out the most effective conservation and the most widely spread of Hunan folk embroidery art through digital technology. This paper will define the concept of the digital in the very start, and at the same time, from philosophical perspective gradually, probes into the key of digital intangible cultural heritage,"display" and "spread". Meanwhile, based on Hunan folk embroidery, from the perspective of digital display and spread, this paper puts forward the digital protection and propagation path of Hunan folk embroidery, after literature studies at current situation of home and abroad, thorough detailed and artistic characteristics research of Hunan folk embroidery art.Then, This paper pertinently points out how we should do the collection; edition and exhibition work to seeking for the direction of diffusion and education for our intangible cultural heritage protection.
