Jiang Fan was a classical scholar of study of Confucian. The Song School Pedigree of Qing Dynasty is one of his representative works in the field of academic history with poor evaluation, for its contains is less, characters are fewer, that hard to be considered as a complete system, and can not reflect the overall condition of the Song School of Qing Dynasty. Therefore, The Song School Pedigree of Qing Dynasty has been neglected until now. In recent years, with the development of Academic History, some scholars began to re-examine the value of the Song School, new questions were raised to forward the traditional concepts such as the disputes between the Han and the Song Schools. As the first book recorded the pedigree of the Song School, the value of The Song School Pedigree of Qing Dynasty should be re-assessment.This thesis is based on the text and attempts to engage in a systematic comprehensive and deep study of The Song School Pedigree of Qing Dynasty from the following four parts: Firstly, Describes the compilation background included Social, Political, and Cultural. This thesis argues that the Emperors of the Qing Dynasty intended to guide and promote the academic trend, proposed that the opinions of the Song School should put into practice.Secondly, this thesis adopts a comparative approach, contrast The Song School Pedigree of Qing Dynasty with Qing Biography and History of Qing Dynasty, and argues that although the characters were fewer, important scholars were basically included. With the features that focus on stylistic rules and pays more attention to the scholars weren’t government officials.Thirdly, based on the analysis of the text, this thesis argues that The Song School Pedigree of Qing Dynasty reflects the distinctive personal values in academic. This was mainly reflected on the appearance that it didn’t pay attention to the academic achievement of the scholars, but praised the ethics and personal practice of the scholars highly.Fourth, based on the analysis of the text, this thesis attempts to explore the scholarship of Jiang Fan, argues that The Song School Pedigree of Qing Dynasty didn’t affected by Jiang Fan academic bias. Jiang Fan’s motivation is to record the academic condition of Qing Dynasty overall, inheritance the practical spirit of the Song School. On the academic position that praised the ethics and personal practical spirit of Song School.Finally, this thesis argues that The Song School Pedigree of Qing Dynasty objective recorded the development and main achievements, and reflects specific conditions of the times and characteristics of the Song School, expressed the author’s attitude for the Song School, contained highly historical value.
